Kamloops

The Riding
Kamloops and the surrounding area offer awesome wide open expanses of mountain biking terrain that is a sweet complement to the rugged North Shore. Kamloops has always attracted mountain bike enthusiasts and has become a mecca for freeriding. Featuring unique hoodoo formations, rugged canyons, miles of logging roads, steep sliders, wicked ramps and plenty of single track, there is enough variety to keep any level of rider smiling.

To further enhance this vast selection of easy-to-access trails, the City of Kamloops has approved the development of the 22-hectare Kamloops Mountain Bike Park and has put considerable effort into ensuring it is a success. Located in the Valleyview area, this new park will host tournaments and plans to form tour linkages with other renowned mountain biking areas, like Sun Peaks.

Sun Peaks Resort, located about 45 minutes from Kamloops, is one of the top lift access mountain bike parks in North America. With over 24 downhill trails to choose from within its expanding network and a world class resort offering great entertainment and accommodation it’s an awesome spot to include in your list of “must rides”.

The Destination
Kamloops, located in the arid central interior, is approximately 4 hours drive from Vancouver. Known for its lakes and rivers, rolling topography and open grasslands, Kamloops is an outdoor recreation paradise. In addition to some awesome mountain biking, the region offers a wide range of adventure activities such as river rafting, fresh water fishing and horseback riding. Kamloops offers a wide range of affordable accommodation options

*It is important that you are aware that riding on the North Shore, in Squamish, and in Whistler is very different than what you may be used to. Due to the climate and topography of the Coast Mountain range, trails can be very steep and rugged. Be aware that the risk of injury is considerable.
