The Riding
Looking for the ultimate BC mountain biking adventure? Let Ride the Shore arrange a floatplane mountain biking trip for your group in the spectacular South Chilcotin Mountains .
There are two options to choose from:
Spruce Lake : the floatplane drops riders at the sub-alpine lake located at 5100 ft. Dropping through alpine meadows, carpeted with wildflowers, the 25km Gun Creek Trail offers quintessential BC riding: big mountains, rolling singletrack, and incredible views for the intermediate rider. Guided day trips, including floatplane and lunch, start at $198 Canadian per person.
Warner Lake : the floatplane transports riders to the lake, which is located at 6050ft. The 40km singletrack trail offers amazing scenery and views. While there is a net loss of almost 4000 ft and tons of extended downhill sections, the trail is basically a rolling cross country ride, with technical sections interspersed with challenging singletrack. The ride takes 5-7 hours. Advanced riding skills and stamina are required. The guided trip, including floatplane and lunch, start at $225 Canadian per person.
The Destination
Spruce Lake and Warner Lake are accessed by floatplane from Tyaughton Lake . The DHC-2 Beaver floatplane is based at Tyax Lake Mountain Resort, a full-service four star resort, located on Tyaughton Lake . The resort is 3 hour drive from Whistler (5 hours from Vancouver ). Ride the Shore can arrange for accommodation at the resort.
*It is important that you are aware that riding on the North Shore, in Squamish, and in Whistler is very different than what you may be used to. Due to the climate and topography of the Coast Mountain range, trails can be very steep and rugged. Be aware that the risk of injury is considerable.
