Overview
British Columbia was recognized by the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) as the "ultimate global mountain biking location” in 2004. In a province blessed with unparalleled natural beauty and diverse landscapes there are literally countless mountain biking opportunities. Ride the Shore Inc. has focused on the North Shore, Squamish, and Whistler simply because of their proximity to Vancouver and the incredible riding opportunities that they offer. If you are interested in venturing further to ride in places such as Victoria, and Nelson, we would be happy to include those destinations in a package for you. In 2005 we are adding Kamloops to the list of recommended areas to ride.

It is important that you are aware that riding on the North Shore, in Squamish, and in Whistler is very different than the riding you may be used to. Mountain biking trails can be very steep and rugged. Rock faces, boulders, loose gravel, tree stumps, roots, ravines, creek beds and man-made ladders, bridges, and stunts are typical of the terrain you will encounter. These factors, combined with the inherent nature of the sport of mountain biking, make the risk of injury considerable. Bike helmets are mandatory in BC. Full face helmets and body armour - elbows/forearms, knees/shins are strongly recommended for downhilling/freeriding. Full suit armour with back/spine, hip and thigh protection is common in the Whistler Bike Park. Full fingers gloves and flat/bmx style pedals are also recommended.

As mountain biking involves the ever-present risk of injury, proof of accident or medical insurance is required as a condition of booking with Ride the Shore Tours Inc. You will be required to sign a waiver.

*It is important that you are aware that riding on the North Shore, in Squamish, and in Whistler is very different than what you may be used to. Due to the climate and topography of the Coast Mountain range, trails can be very steep and rugged. Be aware that the risk of injury is considerable.
